The CalciumCT calcium score price index
The listed cash price of a coronary calcium scan at each facility in our directory that has one, summarized, with the whole table free to download and reuse.
Edition: October 2026. Listings checked September 16 – (how we check).
The Calcium Score Price Index is the median listed self-pay price for a coronary artery calcium scan, CPT 75571, across the facilities in our directory that have one, each price published by the facility or quoted to us by phone: $127.50 in this edition, from 228 prices. It is recomputed from the listings whenever one of them changes, and every listing behind it is below, free to download.

What the index measures
The directory lists 1272 facilities in 50 states and the District of Columbia. We list a positive self-pay price for 228 of them, published by the facility or quoted to us by phone, and the index is their median. 4 more record a no-cost program, counted on its own and left out of every price figure, and 1040 have no price we could record.
It is a count, not an estimate. It is not weighted by population or by how many scans a facility does, and the directory is not a random sample: a listing comes from a page on the facility’s own website, or its health system’s, that names the exam, unless its notes say otherwise. 571 listings rest instead on Medicare claims data that show the facility performed the scan. 231 listings come from the list of calcium-scan sites a heart-scan booking network publishes, where the center’s own page lists only CT. A facility that no such source names for the scan is not in it. Most prices come from the facilities’ own websites; 8 of the 1272 listings have so far been confirmed by phone. Read it as what facilities advertise, not as what every patient pays.

A metro area needs 3 listed prices before it gets a median, here or on any other page of the site, so that one unusual price cannot set it alone. Metro areas are US Census metropolitan areas, the boundaries hospitals and insurers use.
Referrals
42 of the 1272 facilities say they will schedule a scan without a clinician’s order, 167 say they need one, and for the other 1063 we have not established the rule. The facilities that take self-referrals, with each one’s own conditions.
Prices confirmed by phone
We have confirmed 8 listings by phone so far:
- $99: Memorial Healthcare System, 4 locations (checked October 1, 2026)
- $175: Carlsbad Imaging Center / Imperial Radiology (checked October 2, 2026)
- $220: Torrance Memorial (checked October 1, 2026)
- $278: John Muir Health (checked October 2, 2026)
- $541: Holy Cross Health (checked October 2, 2026)
That is too few to summarize, so they are listed rather than averaged.
What hospital price files say about the same scan
On , we compared two published prices for the same coronary calcium scan (CPT 75571) at all four Florida hospital systems in this directory that advertise a cash price: the self-pay price on the hospital system’s own website, and the “discounted cash price” in the machine-readable price file that federal rules require hospitals to publish.
Baptist Health South Florida advertises $99 while its hospitals’ price files list $1,071.85 to $1,262.95, at least 10 times as much; Memorial Healthcare System advertises $99, the same price Memorial’s online price tool shows, while its hospitals’ price files list $509.60 to $764.40, at least 5 times as much. The other two do not show that pattern: Jackson Health System advertises $100 and Jackson North Medical Center’s file lists $86.00, and Orlando Health advertises $100 and Health Central Hospital’s file lists two cash prices for the scan, $20.00 and $443.20.
If a price tool built on these files shows a cash price far above a hospital’s advertised one, ask the hospital for its self-pay price for CPT 75571, and whether it includes the radiologist’s read, before you rule it out.
| Health system | Advertised self-pay | Discounted cash price in its price files |

| Jackson Health System | $100 | $86.00 |
| Orlando Health | $100 | $20.00 or $443.20 |

How to read these numbers
- Discounted cash price is the file’s field for “the charge that applies to an individual who pays cash (or cash equivalent)”; the gross charge is the chargemaster price before any discount (45 CFR 180.20). Neither is ever the price on one of our listings (what a listed price is).
- In all nine of Baptist Health South Florida’s files, every line’s discounted cash price is 65% of its gross charge: a blanket discount off the list price, with no line that prices a calcium scan at or near the advertised $99.
- In all four of Memorial Healthcare System’s files, every line’s discounted cash price is 70% of its gross charge: a blanket discount off the list price, with no line that prices a calcium scan at or near the advertised $99.
- The files price the hospital’s own charge for the scan; the radiologist’s read is often billed separately. Memorial Healthcare System and Orlando Health say their advertised price includes the read.
- The advertised prices are offers with conditions: Baptist Health South Florida’s offer requires a prescription and applies to patients without health insurance; Memorial Healthcare System’s offer requires a prescription; Orlando Health’s offer requires a physician’s order.
- Baptist Health South Florida’s own pricing page says that “the information posted may not be reflective of what our patients will be billed”.
- Hospitals must update these files at least once a year (45 CFR 180.50), and the tables show each file’s own date. CMS’s guidance is that a discounted cash price is most useful “when posted prices closely reflect what patients can expect to pay at the point of care” (CMS FAQs).

| Column | Type | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
id | string | Stable identifier for the listing. Never reused or renamed; use it to join one edition to the next. |
name | string | Facility name as the facility publishes it. |
brand | string | Health system or operator. Equal to name for an independent site. |
address | string | Street address of the building where the scan is done. |
city | string | City or town of the address. |
state | string | Two-letter USPS code. DC is the District of Columbia, not a state. |
zip | string | Five-digit ZIP code, as text: some begin with 0, which a spreadsheet drops unless the column is imported as text. |
metro_ | string | US Census metropolitan area this site groups the listing under: the CBSA code, or the Metropolitan Division code where a CBSA is split. |
cbsa_ | string | US Census Core-Based Statistical Area code. Equal to metro_code except inside a split CBSA. |
metro_ | string | US Census name of the metropolitan area or division. |
latitude | number | Building latitude, decimal degrees (WGS84). |
longitude | number | Building longitude, decimal degrees (WGS84). |
cpt | string | Procedure code the price is for: 75571, coronary artery calcium scoring. |
cash_ | integer | Self-pay price in whole US dollars. Empty when none is recorded. 0 means a no-cost program, not a price: leave 0 out of price statistics. |
price_ | string | How the facility describes the price, such as "$99 self-pay" or "$250 maximum out-of-pocket". Empty when no price is recorded. |
price_ | string | What the price includes or excludes, and any conditions on it. |
referral_ | boolean | true if the facility requires a clinician's order before scheduling, false if it says it does not. Some of the false rows book without an order only for patients who meet the facility's age or risk criteria; referral_notes gives the rule. Empty when we have not established it. |
referral_ | string | The facility's referral rule in detail: age ranges, risk factors, whether a telehealth order is accepted. |
accepts_ | boolean | true where the facility's page or our call says HSA or FSA funds can be used for the scan (some say only that the cost is reimbursable, which is not a promise that the desk takes the card), false where it says they cannot. Empty when we have not established it. |
turnaround | string | How and when results are delivered, where the facility says. |
notes | string | Anything else a patient needs: the building, floor or entrance, and what to ask for when booking. |
phone | string | The number that schedules the scan. |
phone_ | string | Which desk that number reaches. |
website | string | The facility's page for the scan. |
booking_ | string | Online booking or request page, where the facility has one. |
phone_ | boolean | true when CalciumCT confirmed this listing's price by phone on last_checked; its other columns may still be as the facility publishes them. false means it has not been confirmed by phone: it was recorded from published sources (notes says when the source is not the facility's own page), and where price_notes say a call gave the price, that call did not confirm the listing. |
last_ | date | Date the listing was last checked against its source, YYYY-MM-DD. |
listing_ | string | The CalciumCT page that shows this listing: its own page where it has one, otherwise its metro area's page. It can change between editions; join on id. |
How the numbers are worked out
- Included: every listing in the directory, confirmed by phone or not. Listings marked closed, and promotional entries, are left out.
- A price is the self-pay amount for CPT 75571 that the facility publishes, or that it quoted to us by phone, in whole dollars. A hospital’s chargemaster or gross list price never counts. A $0 no-cost program is real and useful, but it is not a price, so it is counted on its own and left out of every figure.
- Median: the middle price; with an even number of prices, the average of the two middle ones. Percentiles are the price at that position in the sorted list, so always a price we actually list for some facility.
- States need 2 listed prices and metro areas 3 before they get a median.
- Dates: each row carries the day it was last checked. The edition is the month of the most recent of those, and every figure here is recomputed from the listings whenever one changes.
How a listing is found, sourced and checked is set out in our editorial standards. No clinic can pay to be added, removed or re-priced, and paid placement changes nothing in this file.
