Calcium score questions
What a scan costs in this directory, when a facility wants a referral, and how the listings work.
How much does a calcium score test cost?
A coronary calcium scan is CPT 75571, a non-contrast CT. Of the 1911 facilities in this directory, 594 list a self-pay price. The median is $113, the middle half runs from $99 to $150, and the full range is $45 to $599. These figures describe the listings. They are not a confirmed quote and not a national average. Ask the facility for its current self-pay price for CPT 75571 and whether the radiologist's interpretation is included. Read the cost guide, or the 243 listings at $99 or less.
Do I need a referral?
534 of the 1911 facilities we list say they need an order from a clinician before they will schedule, and 132 say they do not. Where a facility books without an order only for patients who meet its criteria, the listing says so. Where we have not established the rule, the listing says to ask when you call. Confirm the rule with the facility. Facilities that say they book without a referral.
Will insurance or Medicare pay for a calcium score?
Usually not, when the scan is for screening, which is why a cash price exists at all. Original Medicare does not pay for a screening calcium scan. Private plans vary: some cover it for people who meet their risk criteria, and some not at all. Paying cash is allowed even when you have insurance. Ask your insurer what you would owe for CPT 75571, then compare that with the facility's self-pay price. What Medicare, insurers, and state laws say.
What is CalciumCT, and do you book the scan?
CalciumCT is a directory of facilities that offer a coronary calcium CT. It does not perform scans, read scans, book appointments, or give medical advice. You compare the listings, then call the facility or use its own booking link. 117 of the 1911 listings have been confirmed by phone. A listing shows Verified only where that is true. Listings badged Ad are paid advertising. Every other listing is unpaid, and a clinic cannot pay to be added to the directory or removed from it. Who runs the site.
How do I find a facility near me?
Search by ZIP code, or open the state and city pages. Each listing shows the self-pay price where we have recorded one, the referral rule where we know it, and a phone number. A listed price is not a quote. Confirm the price, what it includes, and whether you need an order before you book. Search by ZIP, or browse states.
